On the plus side, I was featured on Deseret News's website: [link] . I was waiting around before the final judging, being all nervous. :[
And BIG NEWS that I've known about for months, but haven't mentioned on here: I'm going to Kenya (along with some of Uganda) this summer to take still photos as part of a documentary. It's for the non-profit group Reach the Children - see [link] - that helps African communities become more self-reliant and what-not. (They don't have any decent promotional material to get large amounts of funding, so a few of my fellow graduates are helping them out.) I've spent the past three months raising money, and I still have over $1000 of the initial $4000 to get, but I'm feeling pretty good about it.
The same day I'm supposed to leave with the group for Kenya, there's an awards ceremony in D.C., which is awkward. (I earned a Congressional Award at Springville. Each district in the U.S. gets to hang a piece in the Lincoln Tunnel, and "A Deep Silence" was chosen out of nearly 1000 entries!) But we've worked things out so our layovers match up in London the next day, so we're getting closer to a solution.
Besides that, I started a new trimester of classes two weeks ago, and we're planning a dance for March 19th with a group going to Ecuador to raise more money: the Africuador Dance Party!
So my life has just been a whirlwind of activity lately, and I'm looooving it.
